In addition to providing R&D and management consultancy services, OD is developing its own intellectual property in the areas of UAV technology. Oxford Dynamics is supported by various UK Government agencies including the Defence & Security Accelerator (DASA), Department of International Trade (DIT) and Innovate UK.
Two of our development projects in the public domain are:
Quiet Drone Technology: Working with academic and commercial collaborators, Oxford Dynamics is exploring, developing and demonstrating a number of techniques that reduce the audible signature of UAVs. This is applicable where it is desirable to reduce the detectability of a vehicle in surveillance operations. Additionally, minimising nuisance noise is critical for sensitive wildlife & environmental monitoring and also commercial services in urban environments.
Optical Obscuration Techniques for UAVs: In certain conditions it is desirable to reduce the detectable visual signature of a UAV. Oxford Dynamics is exploring a number of both passive and active systems to achieve this. This project has both academic and commercial collaborators and is expected to give rise to an operational prototype demonstrator.
